Finite element modelling of indentation testing in an AA1050 microstructure

Abstract Heterogeneous microstructures can be produced in structural metals from heterogeneous deformation, and they also purposely designed to meet specific requirements high-demanding engineering applications. When designing a microstructure metallic materials, it is important know the local mechanical properties such as stress-strain behavior. However, due varying microstructure, direct measurement of not feasible either by bulk testing or miniature testing. In this work, an iterative approach, based on finite element method under assumption that mictrostructure homogeneous, will presented example extract cold-rolled AA1050 indentation tests example. The uncertainties proposed are discussed.
